PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Another night of fiesty cricket at the Bash and small margins helped the Gades get over the winning line. We'll be back tomorrow for more Big Bash action. For now, cheers and bye..
Oliver Peake | Player of the Match: I was lucky I had Sammy out there to sort of help me through. I was struggling to hit him the whole time really. The pitch was a bit two paced and I guess the only shots I could really get off the square were ramps, so I decided to go to that for the last one and luckily it paid off. I’m not sure about that. I sort of sold it last week, a couple of days ago, when Sutherland got the win. I probably should have been out there and yeah, learned from that for this game to try to take it a little bit deep. I was lucky as well. I had a bit of luck, a few balls landing in the gap and that catch turned over, you always need some luck. I’m starting to figure it out and yeah, I’m lucky I probably got that tonight. There’s not much for me to make of it, I guess. It’s probably up to the umps and the adjudicators. It looked like he probably put it on the ground when he was getting up or something, and I guess strictly speaking you can’t do that. And we saw Starkey do that in the Ashes a few years ago, so the rule’s there, it’s rare for it to come up. If that was a Sheffield Shield game or something, then there’s no conversation on that, just lots of TVs, cameras around to pick it up.
19:30 Local Time, 11:30 GMT, 17:00 IST: The Scorchers do look disappointed, they gave a good fight defending 127, were favourites at one stage, but that one controversial moment will linger on. Where do we start? The Renegades were crusing along at 54 for 1 after 7 overs and it all went wrong suddenly. The hosts kept plugging away, got a lucky run-out and squeezed the Gades with 7 good overs that cost them just 20 runs and 4 wickets in the bargain. Oliver Peake took his time to settle and then opened up during the batting power surge, but he did get lucky – a mistimed pull was well caught at mid-on, but Turner wasn’t in control of his body when the ball touched the ground. Peake continued amongst boos, lost Sutherland and then backed himself to secure victory for the Gades. Should’ve been a comfortable chase after their bowlers did outstandingly well, but they’ll take these two points which takes them to 6th in the standing, just behind the Sixers and the Strikers on net run-rate.

Hardie to Oliver Peake, SIX, 19-year old Oliver Peake is a hero for the Gades, sensational, sensational finish here at the Optus - but should Hardie kept going with his slower ones? He goes full and at the stumps, long leg was in position, but Peake backed himself to clear him - shuffles across, uses the pace on the ball and then nonchalantly swings it into the stands. The Gades erupt as they survive another banana skin, suddenly they're back big time into the tournament
19.5
Hardie to Oliver Peake, no run, Peake needs a boundary to win it now - short of a good length and into the wicket, rushed Peake on the pull once again and he's miscued it back at the bowler
19.4
Hardie to Oliver Peake, 2 runs, brilliant running from Peake and he steals a second run once again - slower ball into the pitch and Peake didn't get hold of the slog, the ball dropped down at the edge of the ring at mid-on and they ran hard - 4 needed off 2 balls
19.3
Hardie to Sam Elliott, 1 run, on a good length and just outside off - Elliott goes hard on the slog and mistimes it to mid-off - 6 from 3 needed
19.2
Hardie to Oliver Peake, 1 run, short of a good length and into the pitch - Peake swings and mistimes the pull over the bowler's head - just a single and they need 7 from 4 balls
8 needed off 5 balls

Hardie to Oliver Peake, 2 runs, has Peake ran himself OUT? Always wanted the second run and the throw came at his end - it was a good flat throw and Laurie Evans broke the stumps with the left-hander struggling, but the keeper took that extra second and that's helped him make his ground - NOT OUT - in by just a frame - was a slower ball and was slugged down to long-on
Aaron Hardie [2.0-0-14-0] is back into the attack

David Payne to Oliver Peake, 1 run, fuller length delivery on the pads, clipped over mid-wicket and Peake will keep strike - Gades need 10 from the last over
A break in play with the Gades needing 11 from 7 balls

David Payne to Sam Elliott, leg byes, 1 run, Elliott cops a blow on his helmet and the physio runs in for the mandatory check - banged in short and at the right-hander, got big onto Elliott's pull and clattered into the helmet
18.4
David Payne to Sam Elliott, 2 runs, short of a good length and angling into the right-hander, tucked wide of mid-wicket for a couple
Sam Elliott, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Payne, from round the wicket

David Payne to Sutherland, out Caught by Hardie!! Another twist to the game - Sutherland falls, this could be so crucial for the Scorchers. Payne backed his slower off-cutter and pushed it wide of the right-hander, Sutherland had come down the pitch, makes room and flays at that, didn't get hold of the shot and lobs it in the air towards extra-cover - Hardie back-tracks, keeps his eyes on the ball and completes a reverse cupped catch. David Payne to Sutherland, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

David Payne to Sutherland, SIX, beautifully played, Sutherlandto the rescue of the Gades once again? Shimmies down the pitch, makes room and then chips the drive over mid-off, sails over the ropes for a maximum
