PLAYER OF THE MATCH
So a crushing win for the Aussies who finish as toppers of Group A. Up next is the Super Six stage which starts in a couple of days and they look in good shape going into that round. That's all for now. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Goodbye!
Oliver Peake | Australia captain: They were first class today (the seamers). The most impressive thing for me was the communication between the bowlers and putting in place the plans that were set. It's no surprise for me. He gets me out for fun in the nets (talking about Bryom). I certainly know what he can do and it was great for him to show the world. You're always trying to take every chance that comes your way. Today was one of those days where everything stuck. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka they nicked everything. Feel like in the first two games we got a lot of plays and misses. Every single bloke in the 15 could come in at any stage. Guys who missed out today have played a great part so far in the tournament. Against each opposition we'll reassess and pick accordingly. We played them in a practice match before the tournament as well (taking on South Africa next). Hopefully we can take them on and continue our good form.
Vimath Dinsara | SL captain: Disappointed. They bowled really well but today wasn't our day. Very happy to qualify for the next round. Will focus game by game and do our best.
Will Byrom | Player of the Match: I feel pretty good, to be honest. My fellow opening partner, Lachmund, got an early one, so I just thought, go with him kind of thing. And we had a good chat before the game. Tim Nielsen was just saying, our coach, first half an hour, whether it was batting or bowling, if it's your day with the ball, just make sure you keep going for as long as you can. (Coming into this tournament) A late addition, pretty disappointed not to get picked, but Tim rang me and said that I was going to be a reserve player, so I just had to keep working hard in the gym, keeping my bowling weights up. And then I got the call, which is pretty exciting and just making sure I got that opportunity to come play, to just go with two hands. (Close-knit fast bowling group?) Yes, very close. We worked pretty hard together, as we saw today. As I said before, Lachmund taking early on, so that kind of got me going a bit, just to try and go with him. And then, Schiller and Kasey just to come on and keep the pressure on, taking wickets as well. It was a great display.
12:32 Local Time, 10:32 GMT, 16:02 IST: Australia have wrapped up the whole contest in around three hours, and that includes the 30 minutes for the innings break as well. Incredible win. They opted to bowl in favourable conditions and Will Byrom led the demolition job with 5/14. Sri Lanka could only manage a total of 58, only just bettering their lowest-ever score in U19 World Cup history. Didn't take long for the Aussies to chase that down. Stay tuned for the presentations..
