So, that's it from our side! Ireland will be in high spirits after having won the series 2-0. A good couple of outings for them before they travel to Sri Lanka for their group fixtures of the T20 World Cup. UAE, on the other hand, have a lot of things to work on. They will be traveling to India for their group fixtures of the World Cup. On that note, we bid you adieu! Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
Curtis Campher | Player of the Match: I think we batted really deep, so for me it was just about trusting my game, trusting my partner, and having confidence in the guys coming in after us. They took their options well, and thankfully it came off for us today. (On today's surface as compared to the first game) Definitely a bit more hold in the surface. It’s a used wicket and there’s been a lot of cricket played out here, so it was just about adapting. We tried to optimise our scoring and then, when you got a bad ball, make sure you put it away. (On the T20 World Cup being round the corner) I think it’s that stage now where the nerves start kicking in and the excitement really builds. It’s been a great run-out for us — a couple of weeks here to dust off the cobwebs and escape the cold Irish summer.
Paul Stirling: (On their comprehensive victory) Absolutely delighted! It felt a little bit like an action replay of the previous game — similar scores, similar moments — so to come away with another win is really pleasing. That ninth-wicket partnership was probably the best part of our day. You can easily lose your way there and get bowled out for 120, and even then I still think we would’ve been in the contest. But to dig in and put together that stand was incredible for us. The most pleasing thing has been how we’ve responded under pressure — every time we’ve been challenged, we’ve managed to come out the other side. (On whether there are more boxes to be ticked before they head off to Sri Lanka for the World Cup) There always are. You’re constantly looking to improve. But we’re happy with the results — four wins out of five is a fair reflection of the tour. That said, Sri Lankan conditions will present a different challenge, and we’ll need to adjust our game accordingly and see what they have in store for us.
Muhammad Waseem: We can say it was a tough series for us, we need to work on our death bowling. We were in good position in the first 14-15 overs but didn't bowl well in the last couple of overs. We need to work on a couple of things like death bowling and batting in the middle overs bit. We still have 8-10 days for the World Cup. So, we will try to work on that.
13:39 Local Time, 09:39 GMT, 15:09 IST: A comprehensive victory for Ireland! They were in some trouble early on after being inserted into bat but a well-calculated fifty from Campher in the middle order and a breezy cameo from Mark Adair at the fag end enabled them to post a strong total on a slowish surface. In response, UAE lost Waseem early but Aryansh Sharma took them off to a brisk start as he kept finding the boundaries regularly. At the halfway stage, the hosts were decently placed with 92 to get and 8 wickets in hand but things changed thereafter. Ireland kept chipping away at the wickets and that took away all the momentum from the home side. Aryansh raised a fifty but fell soon after and that was the telling blow for them. The lower order had too much to do and eventually, UAE fell well short. All the Irish bowlers bowled nicely on a surface which was stopping a bit. Stick around for the presentations...
